Unique Instruments, Inc. Launches Unique Design and Development, LLC an Independent Contract Product Development Company

BRIDGEPORT, MI. (September 9, 2004) - Unique Instruments, Inc., a global leader in contract manufacturing services for the orthopedic medical device market, has launched an independent contract product development company, Unique Design and Development, LLC.

“Establishing an orthopedic product development arm was a natural extension of our business given our long history of quality contract manufacturing in the marketplace,” said Robert Denny, President and CEO of Unique Instruments. “The addition of Unique Design brings complete supply chain management to our clients: from concept through to product launch.” “Unique Design will partner with Orthopedic OEM suppliers and early stage companies to help bring their innovative products to market faster,” said Stephen Maguire, General Manager of Unique Design. “Our product development expertise, along with our in-house prototyping and testing capabilities, provide a valuable resource to clients that will compliment and expand their internal resources.” Unique Design clients will have the option to manufacture through Unique Instruments or a medical device manufacturing company of their choice.

Unique Design is conveniently located between Boston and Philadelphia, in Shelton, CT. The new, state-of the art facility includes Computer Aided Design (CAE), CNC Prototyping and Biomechanical Testing Labs. In addition, the company’s FDA QSR and ISO 13485 systems insure quality processes and products. “There are contract design firms that attempt to handle all areas of medical design. We have chosen to focus our expertise on the orthopedic market.
