8/13/2004 - Stainless steel wire in the microscopic cross sections used in catheter related diagnostic procedures is the latest in a long line of specialty materials supplied to medical equipment manufacturers by Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals of North Haven, CT.

Manufactured by the company's division, Ulbrich Precision Flat Wire LLC of Westminster, SC, the wire is available in widths as narrow as .0025 inch

The wire is drawn from high quality domestic and imported grades of stainless steel rod and tempered to achieve the desired torque, column strength and multiple curve capabilities required for braided stainless steel shaft tubing. Tolerances of + or - .0001 inch are held for gauge, + or - .0003 inch for width.

From its headquarters operation in Connecticut and its three regional service centers, Ulbrich produces stainless steel strip for such medical device applications as staple guns, endoscopic suturing and cutting devices and other minimally invasive surgical instruments. The company also supplies titanium strip for pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable devices.
