Solstice Medical Announces Strategic Channel Partnerships with Leading Orthopaedic  Providers

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (June 21, 2006)Solstice Medical, LLC, CEO Daniel Sands has announced that two of the medical device industry leading Tier 1 suppliers, Leis Medical and Paragon Medical are authorized channel partners for Solstice Medical’s pioneering radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, for use with surgical instruments, cases and other surgical assets.

“Establishing relationships with these Orthopaedic industry leading suppliers will deliver enhanced value to our shared customer base,” says Sands.  “The ability to leverage complementary technologies, knowledge and distribution networks will enable us to collaborate and deliver our customers a global based solution more effectively than working independently,” says Sands.   “We are simply leveraging core competencies and synergies to provide a value-based asset management solution eliminating barriers for widespread RFID technology implementation.”

“We are extremely excited about the partnership with Solstice Medical.  We firmly believe in the RFID technology and the benefits it can bring to our customers”, said Harold Linville, CEO of Leis Medical. “We look forward to working with Solstice Medical to broaden the array of services we can offer to our customers.”

“Joint collaboration with Solstice Medical to improve the life cycle of reusable surgical devices will deliver enhanced value to our shared customer base,” states Greg Hall, Director, International Business Development .  When OEM’s specify Solstice Medical RFID technology in the devices we manufacture for them, the OEM is maximizing their return on that investment by improving their ability to track, maintain and utilize that device.  The potential savings for the OEM’s from RFID technology is exciting.”

“We have created an innovative RFID technology implementation supply chain model to assist OEM’s ability to embrace the benefits of RFID technology,” continues Sands.  “The ability to enable RFID technology into surgical devices during these suppliers normal manufacturing methods saves the cost of secondary operations by other parties to integrate the technology.  This is a value and cost savings for medical device manufacturers looking to implement unique identification technology into their products.”

“As part of our complete chain of custody surgical asset life cycle management system, called Dock-to-DocTM , RFID technology standardization and functionality are critical components for widespread industry adoption,” says Sands.  There are over 370 Tier 1 Orthopaedic suppliers that medical device original equipment manufactures (OEMs) may select to produce their specialized surgical devices.  370 unique RFID solutions will create conflicting competitive barriers for widespread RFID adoption in the Orthopaedic industry.  Solstice Medical offers to the entire supply community and the entire OEM community a RFID standards-based approach to better integrate the supply chain.”
