4/16 - NORWOOD Tool Company, a contract manufacturer in Dayton, Ohio since 1926, is proud to announce that as of May 5, 2008, they will be known as Norwood Medical.

4/15 - The filing of Symmetry Medical's 2007 Annual Report on Form 10-K will be delayed beyond its previously announced 4/14/08 target.

4/14 - Bradshaw Medical was issued U.S. Patent # US D566,271 S for their Parallel-Action Compressor and Distractor Instrument used in multiple spinal surgery applications.  Further, a U.S. utility patent for the instrument is pending and anticipated by summer, 2008.

4/14 - AMETEK, Inc. announced the acquisition of Reading Alloys, a privately held, niche specialty metals producer.   

4/11 - Orchid Design acquired Azary Technologies, a medical device quality and regulatory consulting firm. Orchid Design provides contract product design and development for the orthopaedic industry.

4/3 - MediTECH Medical Polymers, a manufacturer of polymeric materials for orthopaedic implants, announced that its U.S. and U.K. manufacturing operations have been certified to ISO 13485:2003. Manufacturing operations in Germany have been reviewed to the ISO standard and formal certification is pending.

4/2 - Loukas Medical received design patent D565,380 from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent is for a new, ergonomically designed t-handle. The utility patent application on this handle is currently under final review at the patent office. View Filing

4/1 - Acme Manufacturing appointed Rick Sawyer as Senior Product Manager, Deburring Systems.

3/27 - Symmetry Medical is investing US $6.2 MM to expand its Warsaw, Indiana operations, creating >60 new jobs.

3/18 -Bradshaw Medical received U.S. Patent #7,334,509 B1 for its Torque Limiting Driver.  In addition, the company was issued U.S. Patent #7,343,824 B1 for its Variable-Torque Limiting Driver.

3/13 - Millstone Medical Outsourcing will provide loaner kit processing services to Innovative Spinal Technologies and OMNI life sciences.

3/12 -Paragon Medical entered into a reciprocal supply agreement with Aesculap for distribution of custom closed sterilization container systems to the orthopaedic market.

2/29 - Pioneer Surgical Technology announced study findings indicating that wear properties of PEEK-on-PEEK (Poly-ether-ether-ketone) are not susceptible to the effects of accelerated aging.

2/28 - Bradshaw Medical was issued Patent # US D562,665 S for the Ratcheting Screwdriver Assembly.

2/28 - Orchid Orthopedic Solutions introduced Osseomatrix™, a proprietary, highly porous titanium implant material developed by Orchid Coating.

2/27 -Sandvik Materials Technology completed its acquisition of Medtronic’s manufacturing operation in Memphis, Tennessee.

2/26 -Symmetry Medical will invest US $20MM over the next 3 years to expand its Malaysian operations by increasing manufacturing and design and development capabilities.

2/25 - JP Consulting opened offices in the U.S. and Paris, France. The company focuses on all aspects of marketing and distribution for orthopaedic companies with emphasis on international business development, including search for new products/technologies, licensing and supplier/vendor outsourcing.

2/21 - NGInstruments received DePuy's 2007 Preferred Supplier Award. Over 100 suppliers were judged on their ability to provide DePuy with overall quality, delivery and pricing. 

VOT Arthroscopic Solutions has chosen Micropulse Incorporated as its manufacturing partner for a complete line of knee implants, instruments and delivery systems.   

2/14 - Symmetry Medical reported preliminary 4Q07 revenue of US $79.1MM. The company will file its Form 10-K for 2007 in 3/08.

Troy Innovative Instruments announced the appointment of Dan McLeod as President and Katherine McKay as Quality Systems Manager.

2/11 - Precimed, a subsidiary of Greatbatch, completed its acquisition of DePuy's manufacturing facility in France. The transaction includes a new 4-year supply agreement with DePuy, for which the facility will continue to produce primary hip stems and shoulder implants.

2/8 - NORWOOD, a contract manufacturer in Dayton, Ohio, has upgraded their ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 certifications to include design. The company has also added Laser Machining for a total of 37 in-house services.

1/31 - Bradshaw Medical was awarded United States Design Patent #US D557,584 for their recently introduced ergonomic silicone t-handle, used in the production of numerous orthopaedic and spinal instruments which incorporate ratcheting, torque-limiting, and zero-play adapter mechanisms.

1/28 - CHIRON Germany celebrated its 50th year as a machine tool manufacturer, and the 15th year since the establishment of CHIRON America. CHIRON supplies high speed single- and twin-spindle vertical machining centers and fully automated turnkey production cells for a variety of industries, including surgical instruments.

1/23 - DYMAX has developed See-Cure™ light-curing adhesive technology for industrial assembly processes. Non-staining blue-colored See-Cure adhesives enable coverage visualization and, as the adhesive cures, color fades, indicating a full cure.

DYMAX introduced the UVCS SideCure™ conveyor system for use in 180° curing of adhesives and coatings from the left, right and top.

1/18 - Triangle Manufacturing achieved ISO 13485:2003 and 21 CFR Part 820 certification. Triangle offers full turnkey manufacturing solutions to medical device OEMs.

1/16 - DKSH and Desco have agreed to integrate Desco Group's marketing, distribution and trading operations into DKSH. The acquisition of Desco von Schulthess' marketing, distribution and trading activities is expected to further strengthen DKSH's Titanium and Titanium Alloy sourcing power from Asia.

1/15 - C&W Swiss reported a 2007 revenue growth of 22% over the previous year. C&W Swiss specializes in Swiss style machining for the orthopaedic, spine and trauma markets. 

1/11 -  LaVezzi Precision celebrates its centennial in 2008. LaVezzi's orthopaedic components include implants, screws and anchors.

1/8 - New England Precision Grinding (NEPG), a developer and manufacturer of wire and tubing products for medical applications, acquired American Medical Instruments, a manufacturer of custom spinal needles, needle assemblies and orthopaedic wires. That firm will be a wholly owned subsidiary of NEPG. (Scroll down page for story.)

Specialty Blades and IncisionTech completed the acquisition of Popper and Sons.

Greatbatch completed its acquisition of Precimed.

1/2 - Bradshaw Medical reported 2007 revenue growth of 357% over 2006.  The company shipped $7.5MM in the calendar year vs. $2.1MM in 2006, their start-up year.
