Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH® Receives Customer Service Award

Fort Wayne, Ind. — For the second time in three years – and three of the last four – Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH® has been named Supplier of the Year in the Raw Material/Engineered Product category by Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics at its annual invitation-only supplier symposium. Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH® manufactures a proprietary polymer, marketed under the Extrulen™ and Chirulen® brand names, that is an integral part in orthopedic implants.

According to Terry Halford, Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics, “MediTECH’s understanding and desire to meet our needs and supply our product surpasses all others. This type of commitment makes them an invaluable partner for Smith & Nephew.”

“MediTECH is one of the best suppliers I have ever dealt with. They are absolutely obsessed with customer service,” Pam Woods, Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics added. “They are definitely a first rate organization.”

Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics hosts the symposium each year to help educate its top suppliers on the status of Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics’ business, future direction and the overall health of the orthopedic industry. Only the top 20 suppliers, those that meet certain volume, predetermined quality and delivery requirements, and are considered essential to the success of the Smith and Nephew Orthopaedics organization are invited to the symposium.

With the most comprehensive UHMW-PE laboratory in the world, customized closed-loop resin handling, state-of-the art monitoring equipment, full lot traceability, a reputation for consistent quality and 30 years supplying orthopedic implant manufacturers worldwide, Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH has become the world leader in ram extrusion and compression molding of premium grade UHMW-PE as specified by orthopedic implant manufacturers for use as implant bearing surfaces.

Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH also recently announced the acquisition of a new state-of-the-art compression molding press. According to Mark Evans, MediTECH Worldwide Business Manager, this press represents the only compression molding press designed and built exclusively to produce UHMW-PE for the medical implant industry.

“Dedicating the press as single-purpose means that our customers can be assured that product quality will remain consistently high and supply will be available when ordered,” Evans explained. “In addition, it allowed us to incorporate and build in process controls that no other press in the world has.”

Poly Hi Solidur MediTECH has sales, manufacturing and distribution facilities worldwide, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Japan and China.

Poly Hi Solidur, Inc., is the world’s largest processor of semi-finished UHMW-PE, sold under the TIVAR® and QuickSilver® brand names. It also offers a broad range of chemical- and corrosion-resistant polymers sold under the Proteus®, ChampLine®, Sanalite® and Armor-X™ brand names. MediTECH orthopaedic implant materials are sold under the Chirulen® and Extrulen™ brand names.
