| Return to Supplier News Source: Ionbond AG Olten Ionbond AG Olten Olten, December 1th, 2004-In a decisive step for the strategic direction of Ionbond and Bodycote PVD Division, SSCP Coatings Limited and Bodycote International signed a merger agreement on Oktober 29, 2004. This brings both companies significantly closer to their vision of becoming the provider of choice for innovative, high-quality metal coatings. The group will trade under
the name of Ionbond, with some 650 employees in 29 coating centers and
annual sales of around CHF 130 Mio. Ionbond’s coating centers in USA,
Canada, Switzerland, England, Singapore, Thailand and its HQ in Olten
will be maintained and increased by new locations in France, Under the terms of the merger
agreement Bodycote acquires a 15 Percent holding in Ionbond and will be
represented on the management board of the new group. Bodycote’s heat
treatments are closely related to Ionbond’s thin-film technology, which
will be of particular interest to multi-national customers with larger
surface technology projects. Beside the benefits expected from synergies
in research and development and marketing, the merged company will enjoy
greater opportunities in opening new geographical markets. Ionbond is
now the largest provider of PVD coatings in USA and the second-largest
in the world, and the aim of the new group is to build up the service
and equipment business with maximum effort and commitment in the next
