Kenosha, Wisconsin (October 4, 2004), Beere Medical has been awarded the patent number 6,807,883 for its combination axial and T-handle driver.

Beere, the innovation leader of the orthopedic instrument industry, understands the need to reduce the amount of instruments required during surgery. The reduction of instruments shortens sterilization times as well as the initial cost to produce instrument sets. Beere’s new handle design is one handle that can be used axially to quickly insert screws and also as a T-handle to apply the final torque required to fully tighten the construction. The handle also incorporates locking mechanisms that will prevent the accidental release of the interchangeable driver shafts.

Beere Medical, a Teleflex Medical company, is an industry leader in new and innovative handheld surgical instruments. The patent has been assigned to Pilling Weck, a Teleflex Medical company. Among some of the items that BPMI manufactures are the patented Ortho-Grip? silicone rubber handles, ratcheting screwdrivers, spinal instruments, and torque limiting and measuring instruments. BPMI also has a very large web presence at http://www.beeremedical.com.
