OrthoSupplier was launched in July 2000 as a business-to-business platform for interaction between the orthopaedic industry OEM and Supplier communities. Soon, OEMs will routinely forwarding prints and specifications to their Suppliers electronically via e-mail, expect their Suppliers to respond to RFQs on-line, and provide on-line access to their outsourcing needs. The Internet has 'leveled the playing field' for Suppliers in terms of their ability to identify—and to be discovered by—potential business partners.

Eventually, the use of paper P.O.s, checks, faxes, brochures, envelopes, postage machines and even business travel will decrease as customers seek to eliminate 'old economy' waste by taking advantage of the the transaction savings that accrue from the effective implementation of Internet technologies.
