On August 30, 2002 Knowledge Enterprises launched the Inaugural Issue of BONEZone, a quarterly resource focused upon strategic sourcing issues relevant to our industry. Targeted for consumption by personnel with outsourcing decision-making authority and responsibility, BONEZone is provided FREE to outsourcing personnel (i.e., individuals whose company sells proprietary orthopaedic devices, equipment, supplies directly to the end-user.) BONEZone includes editorial commentary on supply chain issues of relevance to the orthopaedic manufacturing community and features contributions from internal resources, industry experts, and Supplier Members. Each issue provides insight regarding the outlook for manufacturer's needs as well as their expectations pertaining to Supplier qualifications. Suppliers serving the orthopaedic industry are denoted categorically in each issue.

Content is informative as well as educational; however, our goal is to address issues in a manner such that both the Manufacturing and Supplier communities derive continually increasing value in support of their respective growth objectives.

  • For Outsourcing Personnel, BoneZone serves as a vehicle to 'see' the Supplier community in a manner that will ultimately assist in the identification of valued supply chain partners.
  • For the Supplier, BoneZone enhances their understanding of current and anticipated market dynamics, answer questions to help align and focus their strategic activities, and prepare them to effectively interface with decisionmakers.

Better Supply Chain Visibility. The Inaugural Issue included the first global introduction to the Orthopaedic Industry Supply Chain—The Players...Who They Are and What They Do. BONEZone will ultimately serve as a 'one-stop' resource for all facets of product and development needs—a master reference to provide all the information needed to stay current with the latest trends in materials, machinery, equipment, and contract services provided by third-party vendors. The Inaugural Issue (and each year-end Winter Issue thereafter) will serve as a "Buyer's Guide" for our industry's outsourcing professionals.

As BONEZone will spotlight issues, address concerns, and elicit answers to questions, participation in this endeavor is not only invited and encouraged, it is critical to ensure its viability as a meaningful and lasting resource.
